Chapters 6 & 11 Responses

Chapter 6:

I believe I would prefer to teach in a classroom with technology. I went to school in a high school where the program I was in was based of technology, as helpful as that was to prepare me for jobs of the future it also hinder us when the internet was down or the equipment wasn't working. If I was to have technology in my classroom like I would like, I would not base every lecture off, of the technology. Nor would I not have back up plans for the day if the technology or internet decided not to work. Personally, I think when used properly technology would be a great asset to the teaching process. And even though they're are many down sides to having it in your classroom, I feel the positives over weigh the negatives.

Chapter 11:

Visual:
A traditional visual technology I found in the book is an overhead projector. A newer form of visual technology I found is, a document camera. With an overhead project you could use this piece of technology for taking notes, or instructions for labs or other classroom projects instead of printing off a bunch of copies. A way you could use the document camera is to go over homework. With math homework it would be easier to just have the problem but up where you can walk the students through all the steps.

Audio:
A traditional audio technology would e a cassette/cd recorder/player. A newer audio technology would be Internet Radio. You could use the cassette/cd player/recorder for book readings. If you have a student who is a slower reader or simply struggles with reading, they could listen to the book while following along instead of just having a hard time keeping up. With the Internet Radio, the students could find articles about their subject, such as global warming and it will give them the newest information on the subject.
